Hey guys, I applied to AAJA JCamp this year, and during the application process I noticed that there wasn’t a College Confidential thread on this program yet… so I’m creating one now! Did anyone else who applied get emails yet?

I got my acceptance letter today too ya’ll! I also think that based on whether we accept/decline to “secure our seats” other people will be notified as well and once all seats are taken then the rejections will be emailed as well.
Is anyone else lowkey freaking out about dumb stuff like what to pack even though it’s only March…

Don’t lose hope yet! I’m pretty sure they email rejections later because some people who get accepted may decline their place in the camp. If more seats open up, there’s probably a waitlist of sorts where they email the next person and invite them to the program. Seeing as we have to have our parents signed forms, information, etc. all in by April 10th that’s probably going to be the day people start receiving rejection emails… of course this is all speculation :-/

@oak2maple Sure! I’m a Junior at a small high school in the Midwest. I started a student ran podcast that focuses on the constantly changing world of student involvement and how they interact with their community. I also work at a radio station where I am both an on air personality and I do studio engineering after school/weekends.
You sound like just the type of student who J camp would be looking for. Enjoy your time there! Great opportunity.

Does anyone know if AAJA is still sending acceptances or reviewing applications, or if we haven’t received an email yet we should assume we’re on the waitlist?

I got my acceptance email today so I think they’re still sending out emails. Does anyone know their acceptance rate because I’m weighing between this program and another one. Stay hopeful!
@EaseMoney I believe it’s only 42 people total chosen but I looked and wasn’t able to find the total number that applied. What’s the other program? For example I know the free spirit journalism conference only takes 1 person per state and offers a $1000 scholarship so the stakes are higher. If the dates don’t conflict though you should definitely do both.
