AAP Scholar

My daughter was admitted and has a letter that has come asking her to attend the AAP freshman scholars day on sat 4-21. in the grand ballroom. they are having it appears a whole day thing on this. They also have invited us to a luncheon reception. Now does this mean she is an AAP scholar? and what is a AAP scholar's benifits over the regular freshman?

Students who meet the criteria for program still need to apply. Didn't it come with some sort of application?

Anyhow, the program is designed to provide additional support for students "who have been historically underserved by higher education." The benefits include workshops, tutoring, etc. http://www.college.ucla.edu/up/aap/ can provide you with a little bit more information. Maybe someone here can speak from experience.

Is the AAP Scholars Program for students who are less qualified for UCLA? I don't understand who it is meant for and what exactly it is supposed to achieve.
