Academic Advancement Program Freshman Scholars' Day

I received an invitation to attend the (AAP) but what is it?

Sounds like an outreach program for low income, first generation, and you've guessed it-minority students.

"Students are eligible to be in AAP if their academic profiles and personal backgrounds may impact their university experience and their retention and graduation from UCLA. They are also eligible if they are part of any federally-funded program that requires counseling, tutoring, or mentoring."

"Entering or continuing students may apply to AAP by documenting the specific educational, or social barriers that have affected their academic experience and performance in high school or post-secondary education and that may affect their academic success at UCLA."

yea what mzlover3 said.

i was invited too

I am in AAP and I come from a upper-middle class family, I'm caucasian, and am not a first generation student. I got in becasue I came from a low performing school which was mostly hispanic. The tutoring servies are great and I highly recommend it.

Is that similar to EOP?

I heard AAP people get priority enrollment? Can someone verify? If they do, I'd apply solely for that.

Does the AAP Freshman Scholars' Day replace the Welcome Days (Apr 6,7,8,11,14 and 15) talked about in another thread? Sounds like many acceptance letters had links to information on Welcome Days, but not all. I'm wondering if the ones that didn't get info on Welcome Days, got the AAP day instead.
