Yeah I worked as an Abercrombie model when I was 16 (and naiive enough to shop there). They treat their employees like **** pretty much... i had to wear shorts (and they were short) with flip flops pretty much in the dead of winter. and they pay horribly, like when i worked it was about 6.50 an hour. But yeah, dont' work there. They'll make you wear their cheap and skanky clothes.

"their cheap and skanky clothes"

true that

haha

Cheap?? I can't afford them.

Why such anger directed at A&F here?

The pay is rather poor, that I will agree. But it's a lot of fun, whether you're a brand representative or impact team. You really should like the brand to work at A&F.

But yes, if you think you have "the looks" to be a greeter, you will be asked/recruited while shopping inside.

two of my best friends work at hollister as store "models". as far as i know they just put on all hollister clothes got an application asked to speak with the manager and were hired just like that. its ALL based on how you look so youre best bet is to walk around and approach a manager.

I just noticed someone on the first page said getting 8.50/hr was not enough money.

Just curious, where do you live?? Nearly all of my friends work at drugstores, fast food, or other resturants and they all get about 6.00/hr. I'm the highest paid out of all my friends, working at a hospital for 7.50/hr.

8.50 would be amazing. And also, I'd love to work at either AF/Hollister...that discount seems too good to pass up.

^ The person lived in Texas, I think. The pay will vary from place to place. 8.50 in one area of the country might not be a very good salary, but it could be a pretty good salary in other parts.

As for A&F, I've wanted to work there, too. The last few times I've been there someone has asked me to work there. (One time was in NYC and I was like "um... I live in Minnesota" haha). I've heard the pay isn't great.... but the discount would be nice. If there was a store closer than 45 minutes away I'd work there.

I'm thinking about business in college, so maybe I'll work in their corporate offices sometime, haha.

a friend of mine was shopping at hollister last weekend and had paid for his clothes and was walking out the door. his bag beeped, and the manager came over to talk to him - turns out they'd put something in his bag so they could talk to him about a job offer.

he declined, but that sounds pretty shady to me.

the only time i buy from those stores are when there's a clearance rack and shirts go for 11 dollars a piece. in general i hate those place cuz i get so disoriented (the weird lighting/shadows).; i feel like gaggin on all that cologne/axe; and all the posters sell sex, not clothes. and doesnt anything there run in a size that does not cling to your body?

Seriously? That sounds really stupid, I'd be pretty annoyed if they did that. Usually they just ask you when you're buying your stuff.

I just got hired as a model and they def discriminate, if not they’ll hire u as a stockroom associate instead of a floor model. and they don’t pay well or anythin anyway, def better jobs out there lol im just shallow like that lol…

yay lets bump a 2 year old thread about abercrombie… who would want to work in that nauseating music and ugly ass clothes anyways ?

This thread is actually 3 years old, haha.

yes sorry, 3 years.

Lol msav, did you just decide to make a CC profile and post for just this thread?

i came across this as i was doing research for modeling. i just got into it recently and i was fortunate to able to book a few gigs already.

Anyways…even I, a brand new model, get paid about 250-300 a day for promo model( the least paying kind), and sometimes 100’s but they are usually multiple day jobs so it adds up.

I just graduate high school and here is some words of advice(even though the OP might be older than me):

If you are going to be a model, be a real model.
If you want to make money, get a real money making job such as AP tutoring peeps under you.

Dont fall into the stupid high school mind set.

msg me if you want more info

^ You’re a model? Jealous much.

The guys that work in Abercrombie where I live are such toolbags. The girls where short skirts in the winter. They offered me a job when I was like 15. I found it very offensive.

I’d totally take that job, but only if I didn’t have to pay for my own clothes.

I think you have to be 18 to work there, but I’m not sure. And I agree that the clothes are extremely overpriced. I like their jeans when they’re on sale. They have really soft hoodies but I only wear those at home lol
