Abortion Essay

Is writing an essay about abortion too risky? Is anyone willing to read it?

Someone? Anyone? :frowning:

A college essay should be about YOU. It’s not a political debate society platform.

I can’t imagine an essay on the topic that will get you into college.

If it was something very impactful on you (and personal to you) and you felt like it would be a strong essay to reveal who you are to the adcoms then maybe but it does sound risky. Even though most colleges lean left no guarantees on the adcoms…

I am willing to read, but it seems extremely risky, since you have no idea what your admission officer’s personal beliefs are. You don’t want to end up irking your adcom for no reason.

The pint of the essay is to get them to want you on campus. To say, “Yes, this student adds something interesting to our campus community”. I don’t see that potential here.

It’s about how an abortion that almost occurred has shaped by values.

@GMTplus7 It is about me, haha. Would you be willing to read?

@intparent You’re right, but the essay is about how its changed my view on certain things (i.e how I would take advantage of all of my resources). Would you be willing to read?

@emilyskates I sent it!

@Lagging Would you be willing to read? It is about me and doesn’t talk about my stance on abortion, but rather how an abortion that almost occurred changed me.

Sorry, don’t read essays for anyone but my own kids. :wink:

@intparent Haha, thanks anyway. :slight_smile:

Anyone else willing to read?

Sure! PM me.

I’ll take a look if you still want someone to read it

I think you’re in very dangerous waters. No matter what your views are, and how this event shaped you, it’s an incredibly polarizing subject. Unless you’re taking a conservative stance at an extremely conservative college, you have no way of knowing what they want to hear.

I read a cautionary thread by someone who posted about how despite amazing stats he got denied at all of his schools – and it turns out that his essay, while well-written, was about guns. His belief was that the topic had made the admissions people uncomfortable.

Be very, very careful.

This is very interesting! I am just a sophomore but I am willing to read it!

Sent to you all. Thank you!
