About 7+ people from my school got into Penn

My school has about 0/200 that go to Penn

We have about 5 or 6 out of 200 that go to an Ivy or a school of similar status though..JHU, Rice, Stanford, etc

Actually one person last year got in!! My lovely locker buddy! I wish I kit.

I go to Abington Friends in the Philadelphia suburbs and Upenn usually takes kids with less than stellar stats. It is apparently MUCH easier for locals to get into it. I was surprised to hear how selective it truly is.

We play you guys in bball

27 applied, 24 accepted, 1 attending, out of 126 outgoing seniors

8 applied, 3 accepted, 2 attending, out of 57 seniors!!

4 applied, 2 accepted, 2 attending (out of 160):)

insanity, 16 applied, 1 accepted RD, ridiculous, but meanwhile, we got kids going to H, P, Y, M, S, Columbia, Cornell, Duke, Dartmouth, Brown, Wash U, go figure....that lil dufous who got in ain;t going.

4 out of...400+. And I did hear UPenn takes about 10 kids from Masterman. I used to live IN Philadelphia and I was gonna go there but I moved. :(

I've heard of Germantown Academy. :)

Out of a graduating class of 69, we had 7 apply, 4 accepted, 3 attending...

12 out of 120 (in the graduating class). i think like 17 or 18 applied.

0/418

if youre smart at my school you go to UVA. end of story.

i'll be the first not applying in-state, i think...

I think UPenn receives funding from the city of Philadelphia, so they have to take in some Philly kids, whether from Masterman, GA, Friends Select, GFS, etc. Does anyone here know the Central HS stats for this year? On the other hand, I've noticed that they like to take all the valedictorians from southern NJ high schools, too, regardless of SAT score and ECs.

Haha...collegekid1988, where IS the guy who got into Penn going?

um....MIT

veggs, ru kidding, 1 attending, wat high school is this and were u accepted?

I attended a relatively small public high school in Massachusetts. Embarassingly, I was among the three that were waitlisted/rejected.. our school has a pretty high success rate in terms of ivy admissions. Of the 24 that were accepted to Penn, 9 of them will be attending Harvard, 2 at Princeton, and 6 at Yale. Plus a bunch of full/close to full rides to lesser schools like WashU. Penn is considered a second rate school due to the number of people from our high school that are admitted each year.

i'm applying ED to penn in the fall.. 2300 sats, blah blah blah, whatever. one of my best friends is also applying ED.. he got a 2240.. we basically have the same EC's and grades and stuff.. i'm 2nd or 3rd in the class, he's probably 10th-20th. the only thing is, his dad went to penn undergrad, wharton grad.. his grandfather is a bio professor at penn.. his aunt, uncle, etc. all went to penn. i have no legacy whatsoever. is it possible that we'd both get in? if we have comparable essays, would he definitely get in over me just b/c of his legacy?

btw- he does not need financial aid.. i do. will this also make a difference?

thanks.

i'm hoping my school will be 2 of 235... lol

Penn is need blind. it is not legacy blind.

his application probably won't hurt you.
