I am a UCR transfer student and I will be starting my first quarter in this fall. I was awarded Pell Grant ($5700), Cal Grant A ($12900 Estimated), and Chancellor's Scholarship ($1000). I accepted those awards at once. But I recently checked on hold page and only Pell Grant and Chancellor's Scholarship were shown and not Cal Grant A.

I received Cal Grant B in community college for 4 years and now only 0.25 year of my Cal Grant eligibility year remaining.

If I can't get Cal Grant A, am I able to benefit from Blue&Gold Opportunity Plan?

I am perfectly eligible for the plan. My parents divorced and I live with my dad, who retired few years ago and literally has no income. I am U.S. citizen living in California. I turned in Fafsa on January. But so far, I haven't been offered from Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan.

This is giving me huge stress right now since Cal Grant A was the biggest chunk of my aid package.

I'd appreciate some useful advice and answers to my question.

no one gets offered the Blue and Gold plan. The B&G plan is just a promise that you will get your tuition covered…and you have. A Cal Grant does that. Call the school and find out when your Cal Grant will be applied. You will either get a Cal Grant or a UC grant to cover your tuition.

Since you are a transfer student, there may be a delay in your Cal Grant…school doesn’t start for another month.

B&G is NOT a grant, it is a promise.

Maybe the school is going to ask for verification. When people say they have no income, schools wonder how you are paying for stuff. how are you eating? how are you paying for your home?

Well. They informed me today that I was not eligible for the Full Calgrant A since I used up my 3.75 years in CC. So they offered me partial Cal Grant B (0.25 year) and UCR grant (about 7k). Problem solved. Now I can focus solely on my study.

Just for the tip those who want to transfer after CC. You can get your Cal Grant for only 4 years and Pell Grant for 6 years.

So if you are a CC student who is planning to transfer to 4-year university, you gotta save your Cal Grant for at least 2 years for the University you are planning to transfer.

When you attend CC cal grant only pays you maximum 1.5k a year. But in 4-year University like UCs, they pay you like 13k a year. So if you use all 4 years of Cal Grant in CC and you still need to tranfer to University, u can be messed up. So save at least 2 years or more for your 4-year university. I recently realized this. But thanks to the Blue and Gold plan in UCs, I don’t have to worry about it.
