hi, i am going to be junior in this fall year!
i received my AP Chinese exam score (i scored 5 yay!!) few weeks ago.
and i was wondering if it is useless to take Chinese Language SAT subject test which will be held in november.
im pretty sure that i will get 790~800, but i was just wondering if its waste of money..
will college see both scores? or is 5 in AP exam is fine enough.

ps, my native language is not chinese ; however it is korean. should i take korean subject test too?(i heard it is useless because its your native language)

AP tests and Subject Tests are different as the depth and application of knowledege is different in each. Subject tests are going to me MUCH more important for admissions. Colleges will definitely like your 5 but, it’s not as crucail as the subject test score.

Unless you are certain you get get an 800, I do not recommend as it would be a little embarrasing.

Congrats on your 5 and good luck with any other tests!

exactly. do not take your native lang. test. colleges do not accept it as a test score. Suppose you took the korean, us history, and biology subject tests, admissions would only count that as two (basically). however, do take the chinese subject test if you think you can get 700+ (and you should think so, since you got a 5 on the AP! Congrats!)

Edit:
i beg to differ. 700+ on language is excellent. disregard percentiles!

SAT II’s are more important than their corresponding AP’s (that being said, depending on your major you might want to do different subject tests, usually people do a math and a science)

Thank you guys so much for answering!
i didnt know that sat subject test was that important!
i will definitely take the sat Chinese subject test in november!

and i think the same way that taking korean subject test will bes useless!( but, how do college admssions know that my native language is Korean but not Chinese? do i have to tell them? )
