Taking Native language SAT 2?

Hi I was just wondering if I take my native language subject test and get a 800 or near that, it will look good for the college? I heard that taking your native language test is pointless but the thing is my first language is Korean and my second is Chinese. So my teacher recommended me to take both korean&chinese. Idk how that will work for the college though.. Will it hurt me?

When English is not your native language, you should not use your native language for your SAT II subject test. It won’t be considered.

Admission representives frpm colleges such as Harvard, Yale, and Princeton have commented that they are not impressed by a high subject test score in the applicant’s native language. In other words, it may technically meet the requirement of being one of your two subject test scores needed but will not be weighed as something in your favor. On other hand, there are colleges that use language subject tests for placement after you are admitted rather than for admission and having a high subject test score may result in not having to take laqnguage in college or take fewer hours than might normally be required to graduate from college.

I suggest you take them but do not use them as your required 2 tests. Submit them in addition to other 2 subjects.

Actually, HYP have said they do not count the subject test as one of the requirements if it is in the applicants native language

It is fine to take those as long as you have at least 2 other SAT2 score submitted. Top schools would not count your native language SAT2 as the 2 SAT2 requirement though.

It actually depends on your last name. If colleges can tell it’s Asian, like Yu or Zhang for example, they will probably assume Korean/Chinese/Japanese was your native language…

Oh ok thank you guys! So even if my second language is Chinese and i take it, it won’t count right?

Remember, you are trying to impress the admission officers with your scores. Do not leave them any room to have any doubt about you.
