does anyone know about how much a student receives for the Henry M. Baird Scholarships? This is the one in which you are the national merit finalist and you get some scholarship money. I dont think my family will qualify for much government aid so my hopes are in scholarship money. anyways can anyone please tell me? thank you thank you thank you!

I THINK NYU only gives about $1000-$2000 per year for National Merit. The Baird program itself actually involves travel. It’s one domestic and one international trip, Freshman and Sophomore years, at very little cost (I’ve heard $300 thrown around). But, you won’t know your whole aid/scholarship package until you get it…they give whatever they want, sometimes little bits to add up to more. And, if you’re National Merit you probably qualify for honors (depends on the school to which you’re applying), so there might be some money there. NYU likes to say they award $1000-$25,000 merit scholarship…to the top 5% (ish) of the candidate pool. But if you’re in a talent school (i.e. Tisch) then you’re awarded primarily for talent. If you’re in Stern, they don’t have the same awards as, say…CAS or Steinhardt. They’re ALL different. But Baird itself is really a travel program, from what I’ve read. Specific National Merit money is very little, unfortunately.

oh thanks! can you tell me more about other merit scholarships there are for CAS?

and how generous nyu is with scholarships?
