About taking mostly art classes senior year?

I’m currently planning on being an art teacher. At the moment, we’re doing registration for next year and, while I’m good at art and have been accepted into advanced art for next year, I haven’t taken any other art classes at my school. This leaves me with the opportunity to take English (required), Religion (required), Government and Health (required, and last 1 semester each), and then fill the remaining 4 spots with art classes. People always say it’s a bad idea to skip out on math and science, but since art is going to be my major, is it going to matter? I know I’ll probably have to take a math course in college, but I think I could handle it. The thing I’m mostly worried about is that this will prevent me from getting accepted into college.

Edit: I forgot to mention, next year I’ll be a senior

IMO it is a bad idea to fill out the schedule with all art classes. Colleges want to see a rigorous senior year schedule. I would take math and science.

It really depends upon which schools you are targeting and what their requirements are for admission. 4 years English, 2-3 years Science, 3+ years Math, 2-4 years Social Science, 2-4 years Foreign Language and 1 year of Art can be standard for most colleges. For top/elite colleges, you are looking at even higher requirements for all most all these areas along with Honors/AP/IB level courses.

Take a look at some schools of interest and see what they require as a Freshman applicant before deciding on your Senior year schedule.

Not all art classes are created equal in admissions. What art classes and what colleges?
