? about Thanksgiving break

Since you CC'ers have been so helpful, I'm going to pester you with another question(!):

Thanksgiving break "officially" begins at noon on Wednesday. In reality, how many classes tend to meet that morning? We need to book flights ASAP, and having late Tuesday available creates more flexibility in booking.

Between UR, RIT, and the other schools, a lot of kids will be looking to fly out of Rochester within a tiny window of time.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

That Weds. is more like an unofficial TG vacation day. My D was 0 for 4 in her for years of attending U of R. About 50% of the school population is outside of NY state so most profs will be flexible, and may even cancel their classes too.

Last year my D had syllabi from most of her classes by the end of the first week of school, so she had a good idea what the plan was. Just in case, she approached her profs early in the semester and told them she had plans to travel over TG and asked if that was a problem. My D does not come home over TG cause of distance. By TG the honeymoon was over and she was ready to be with friends in Boston - she really didn't care - she was leaving. I'd say you are safe to make your reservations.

For the last couple of years, I have found no problem getting my S home for Thanksgiving on a early or mid afternon flight on Wednesday. He probably appreciated being able to sleep in if classes were cancelled that morning. RIT students will not be a factor since they are on a quarter system and have a longer break. Getting back into Rochester was a little harder. I have had to send him back on Saturday evenings.
