about the Cal Inland Empire Reception for those who wanna know

i don't wanna start off by ranting
so i'll say it was decent.
the people who went were like er wth. only probably one or 2 people dressed up.
most people couldn't give a crap about anything.
some people took food and started munching while the seminar went on so wow to those people
i mean seriously when someone is giving a talk how hard is it for someone to sit still. if u gotta go **** just go already.

ok here comes the disappointing part. i have a lot of questions. ok not really... 3 questions... 3 really important questions...
lets just say none got answered.
i went to housing... they said oh summer housing please visit the summer session desk. i went to the summer session desk guess what happened? yup u guessed it... please go to the housing desk.
basically i got shoved around with no one able to answer my questions

now comes the 2nd disappoint part. the bottom line of the session was not "congrats" or "welcome to Cal" or anything of that sort.
their underlined msg was.... DON'T SIR TO UCLA
i think EVERY one of u who attended today cannot deny that. that was all they talked about. every speaker, every minute, its like a brainwash process.

how about those of us (like me) that do not have a UCLA option? Cal is the only option or the next best thing is USC.
how do i feel? i feel left out. there is NO DECISION for me to make. since i m already good and ready to go people like me got totally neglected. nothing about campus life was mentioned, no pix of inside campus or anything of that sort.

what was this reception to me? useless.
what did i learn? nothing.

oh yeh they did say oooo u need to research and research and do a lot of research.
yup i think it was probably cuz i did too much research that the seminar was basically pointless.
nuff said

I'm going to the LAX one tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be a little better. If not, well, I guess it makes my Cal/UCLA decision easier.

I'm sorry it didn't help you, though. They should have taken admits like you into consideration instead of making it just about the intercampus rivalry.

just got back from the reception.....didn't see any Haas students or department counsilor.......

Do you agree with Guardian's assessment, Hongda?

Hey fasterfirefox, I'm going to the LAX reception tomorrow too. I hope there'll be cake...

Mmm, cake...

hongda has to agree
cuz i m dorming with him in summer, if he disagrees i'll kick him when hes asleep
WAHAHAHA

was there a cost to attend?

free.... actually u should reserve but while i was there they dont check at all...
u just sign in and thats about it

@ guardian

So basically you felt it was a big waste of time? Calso is the thing that costs money to attend and that takes place this summer AT BERKELEY....right?
and i think you can actually accomplish things at calso like registering for
classes...declaring....etc..

bottom line they just asking u to SIR
i think calso is the real orientation where they tour u the school and such
well if u don't wanna miss the transfer experience u should go, i think it was a good experience, just that i was disappointed cuz i expected them to well... offer more i guess...
