I got a letter from Haverford College Office of Adimissions and was informed that Haverford offered me a place on the waiting list. I confirmed that I would like to stay on the waiting list and stated why I like Haverford before the deadline, but I did not get any reply from Haverford. Is that usual? Thank you.

Not sure you have quite understood the nature of a wait list (or perhaps I am misunderstanding the query). The whole point of is that you do not get notified until after the May 1 deadline when a school knows whether it will have room for waitlisted students. That is, it needs to hear from the students who were admitted;hopefully you accepted a spot at one of the schools to which you were accepted, and then if admitted off the Haverford wait list you can relinquish your spot at the other school if you wish to attend H instead.

Hi mattmom, it seems that I did not explain my question clearly. When I say “reply” I am not suggesting the final decision Haverford makes (to accept me or not), I mean Haverford should reply to me that they know I‘d like to remain on the waiting list (in my opinion). Some people told me that it’s unusual to send email to a school but get no reply. So I just want to make sure that Haverford did receive and read my email.

No way of knowing–why not just call and confirm that they got your reply? There is probably someone in the office part of whose job it is to track incoming mail of that nature so you will not be imposing on anyone.

D received email that she is on extended WL. Maybe this is just protection for H from summer melt but have no other info. I am still wondering how real most WLs actually are (or are not).
