About translating a transcript from French to English?

<p>I'm just curious about what a translated transcript should look like. I'm translating my transcript from when I studied philosophy in France. There are certain things on my transcript that I have no idea what they are. For instance, one of the classes is simply listed as "UE1." I've searched my university's website, but I'm not terribly sure what that means. </p>

<p>This is just one example. Essentially, what I'm wondering is how much translating needs to be done. For example, several of the classes are just called "textes philosophiques." Should I explain that some of these classes listed under Philosophical Texts were on Strauss or Hume, or should I simply list them as they are listed on the transcript?</p>

<p>Are you supposed to be translating it yourself? Isn’t a professional translator supposed to do that for you?</p>

<p>It’s my understanding that I can translate it and have my translation certified. Please, correct me if I’m wrong.</p>

<p>Well, sure, I’d imagine you could bring them a translation “cheat sheet”, but the actual translation (the one you submit) has to be done by a professional translator. Additionally, it has to be an exact word-for-word translation - that means no elaborating on Strauss/Hume and leaving UE1 as is (perhaps it’s l’Union Européenne 1? In that case, make a note for the translator to translate it as EU1.)</p>
