Absolutely absurd

I’d rather that they just reject me, save me the humiliation. I showed an unprecedented amount of interest. I had two college fair conversations, a reception at the Marriot, a meeting at my High School, an alumnus interview that went GREAT, and sent them three EXTRA essays. I applied for the MLK scholarship. My GPA is a 3.75 (their 50th percentile is 3.71) and my SAT is 2090 (75th percentile is 2070). I’m the President of a non-profit club at my school, an officer in the pre-med club, a piano player of 14 years, a camp counselor, and a licensed EMT 4 hours a week. I wrote GREAT essays and had very good recommendations sent.

But alas, I was only offered admission for the spring semester. And instead of just not giving me money, they had the audacity to offer me a $750 grant. THANKS.

Sorry, I know I’m ranting. But who else is utterly appalled at their decision?

It sounds terrible what happened to you. Your credentials are great. All the extra effort you gave. Financial Aid has to revise the offer b/s it’s ridiculous.

That’s pretty weird. You definitely should have been accepted

My daughter is in the same boat…offered Jan 2012 admission. The sad thing is is that we didn’t even notice it the first time we looked at the letter on the website. After “Congratulations…” we were so excited as BU is her first choice. We have not received any info on FA but I guess I can see where this is going.

I’m sorry for your disappointment. I do believe things happen for a reason, however, and hope you, along with my daughter, find your second choice to be the perfect fit. Good luck!

There should be no reason why they wouldn’t admit you for the fall semester. Maybe there was some mistake. It might be in your interest to contact admissions and find out.

Maybe you came off as stalkerish/having an absurd sense of entitlement.

OP, I’m in a similar position as you: waitlisted with a 2190 SAT, work 20ish hours a week since before sophmore year at the same place, i even took Calc I here as a high schooler!!! i’m beyond appalled by BU

There probably was not a mistake. I know it’s harsh, but admissions season sucks for everyone in one way or another. We all have that school we love and pursue but just does not return our affections. Perhaps there was a student with the exact same stats etc who just edged you out. You can certainly contact admissions, but I wouldn’t bank on it doing much good.

I suspect the premed club hurt. If you’re from the NYC or Boston area they just have too many applicants who want to be premed.
