I attended FIU and I was academically dismissed after some health issues that made me hospital bound for a while. I lost my scholarships (no loans) and I owe some money, though I didn’t realize I was academically dismissed until months later. I’ve taken some time off school now, but I wanna start again. What can I do? Can I go to a CC not send them my FIU transcripts and get by? Should I apply to a CC and be honest?
You will probably need to mention that you went to FIU. If they decide that you are a “transfer” then you will definitely need to provide your transcripts. Definitely don’t hide anything.
If you had a serious illness, such that would have excused your absences, you should contact FIU and raise the issue with them. It is theoretically possible (though extremely rare) to be allowed to withdraw from a course after the course is complete, or set it to an “incomplete” status. This would at least get your grades back together.
If FIU doesn’t accept that, then you can just finish an AA at a community college and transfer back to a university as a junior.
