Dismissed from University

I got my Associates Degree from Palm Beach State College. Transferred to 4 yr University FIU. By second semester i did horrible and unfortunately wasn’t able to withdraw from the classes before Withdraw date my GPA drop to 1.67 and i was put on academic probation. My excuse was i work full time job (not much of an excuse cause many people are able to balance this but guess I’m not one of them). Had decent semester after academic suspension (2.67). I took Chemistry 2 did good first test completely bombed the second test. still felt confident that ill do good in final however it wasn’t good enough cause i got D in class and Dismissed from the University at again a GPA (1.67). i was told to go Broward College do 2 semesters there prove i can do well and reapply again. Immediately i enroll in CC again got 3.2 my first semester. Second semester looking to do at least better than 3.2. again.

Now here is my big situation (as if the info in top paragraph wasn’t big enough). When i went back to CC after i was dismissed from FIU they unfortunately did not receive my transcript from FIU but only from PBSC when i got my AA from. Would it make better sense to just transfer to another university, for instance FAU. My GPA would be much higher like 3.1 with my GPA combined from PBSC and BC. Completely bypassing the bad year i had at the FIU i dismissed from.

                                                                                OR

Transfer back to FIU finish what i started work my up from around 2.0 GPA

Talk with an advisor at your CC! I’ve had friends that got dismissed for grades, spent a few semesters back in a CC and then returned to their college and did fine.

I believe any university you transfer too will require your transcripts from FIU. An advisor will explain.

Good Luck!

Every university relies on you to be honest about previous university coursework. You are required to sign a statement indicating that you have been honest.

But there are those that try to game the system, and for those students, the universities use a clearinghouse that checks all previous coursework taken at all universities. You will be rejected/ rescinded if you “omit” records. Worse, they let other universities know through the clearinghouse of any deceptive tactics on your part.

It’s just not worth it.
