Hello,
I am writing because I am concerned over my future. In High School I was very successful in terms of my grades and other extracurricular activities I was in the top 20 in my class. Due to unforeseen circumstances some personal problems have made me unsuccessful at UCSD and was subject to academic disqualification. I submitted an appeal, but I know it is not likely to be accepted and I haven't heard any new information on this. Due to this I have to take a 1 year leave and so I decided to use this summer break to seek professional treatment for my personal problems. By Fall however I would like to attend community college and take courses. I certainly would not like to take just any random courses but ones that would be transferable/accepted by UCSD and be accredited towards my major. My major is environmental systems and so I was seeking advice and help in determining which courses to take at community college that would count for that major. Also my main concern is how would I be able to be readmitted to UCSD after the 1 year leave. Are there any specific requirements? or will I be treated as a transfer student? Would I have to reapply to UCSD as a whole? Who can I go to for more assistance? I still would like to come back at UCSD but should I just complete an associate degree at a community college? even though I would like to complete a degree at UCSD. How do I know which courses to take that will allow me to reapply to UCSD but also count towards my major? Will the community college even accept me due to my bad grades? If so can I take classes at community college that can overwrite the classes that I failed?

1- Yes community colleges will accept you.

2 - Use the website www.assist.org to help you determine classes needed for your major.

3 - if you have questions about how to be readmitted to UCSD in regards to your specific situation, you need to speak with someone at UCSD. I would recommend not taking any coursework until you have specific guidance from an advisor or whomever at UCSD. Follow any instructions they give you to the letter.
