I'm a second year biology major here at UCSB.

So I had a really rough quarter taking four hard classes, and let's just say that my GPA for this quarter definitely isn't above a 2.0, but there's also somewhat of a chance that it will be below a 1.5. It wasn't partying or drinking that got to me -- the problem was that I got so overwhelmed with work that I couldn't keep up.

I read the academic policy about probation and disqualification and needless to say, I am now scared ****less for the future of my college career. This is the very first time that my GPA's ever dipped below a 2.0 in anything (it's always been around a 2.8-3.2), but my cumulative GPA will still be far above a 2.0.

Does this mean that I'll get put on academic probation now or will I be immediately subject to disqualification? I've heard many different things ranging from being put on probation since this is the very first time that this has happened to being put on academic disqualification immediately. I would like a clear answer since it's spring break right now and I haven't had any peace of mind since finals week ended.

Needless to say, no matter what happens I'm going to speak to an academic advisor immediately after I get back and make sure this doesn't happen again.
