I was awarded the AES Achievment award for Fall 2011, which is $4000 to tuition and $3000 to housing. I know that I have to get a 3.0 GPA to maintain the scholarship amount for sophomore year, but I heard from someone that I can "upgrade" my scholarship to the next AES "level," so that if I get a 3.75 GPA during freshmen year, I would be eligible for the full scholarship AES award for sophomore year.

Can anyone confirm that this would be correct?

Congratulations! I’ve called the UTD office before, and they told be about “expanding” your scholarship as you have described (with a 3.75). I have a question of my own for you. How long did it take for you to get your scholarship, and if you don’t mind can you share your statistics (SAT Score broken down, rank, gpa, etc)

Thanks!
I applied back in November, but the admissions office messed up my application and didn’t put my act scores with my application, so I was admitted in January. Around 2 weeks later they sent me my scholarship letter.
I didn’t send them my SAT scores because I didn’t like them, but they were CR 650, M 750, and W 580.
However, I sent them my ACT composite score of 31.
ranked 89/209 from a magnet school, lots of ECs and couple of APs
3.0/4.0 gpa
