Today at approximately 1 AM UT Dallas pushed out the AES awards for everyone who received it, you can check it under the financial aid box in your portal. You should have also received an email on it.
Unlike previous years, it seems much, much more difficult to get to the 2nd or 1st tier of AES, because this time around, there are no tiers.
It seems the award is very scalable now, a couple of my friends got 12500 per year, 11000 per year, there doesn’t seem to be any outlined awards like the tiers we are used to, oh well.
My aid was 10,000 per year, 5k per semester.
My stats (that matter) were:
SAT – 1500
GPA – 4.2
A mouthful of AP classes.
Another data point – One of my friends had an SAT of 1580, and got only 12,000 per year, not covering even full tuition.
I know it might sound egotistical, but is there any possible way to raise this award up going into 2nd year or possibly appeal for a higher one? My financial situation is desperate and I need it in order to stay in the country, but I doubt an emotional appeal will work here. Regardless, feel free to post your results down below!
Stats- top 4% out of about 750 in my class, 33 act, all A’s except for one high B on my transcript, 11 current and past AP credits, 4.12 weighted GPA, 3.8 unweighted, okay ECs & leadership.
Any information about the AES appeal process? How do I go about it and if I need to initiate within a certain duration of the award being announced? Thanks
In the past the answer to this is hard no. They said the AES award is the same for all 4 years - but you are welcome to apply for other university scholarships.
I am confused people have gotten AES scholarships with stats lower than this
And I was not awarded even a cent, I think I should appeal or complaint
GPA 4.5, SAT 1525 took 11 AP courses including calculus and human geo few B’s but then As too … our school ranking is messed up which they are fixing it for next year but it did affect me
