Academic Index Question (Athlete)

Will the adcom's care if I have a mediocre GPA/class rank but great test scores when doing my A.I.? It's a 3.6 UW GPA and 182/655. My school is difficult and sends kids to Ivy's every year. I still pull around a 200-205 A.I., depending on which calculator I use, and also have a great ACT that's not accounted for in the formula. I also might be considered a URM (Uzbek) and have great E.C's. Will my grades impede my possible recruitment/acceptance?

your AI is ok, but it really depends on your sport, and where you are in the depth chart. that may matter more than where your AI is. if your AI+athletic achievement is high for the coach, they will go for you. if you aren’t athletically competitive, then it doesn’t really matter what your AI is.

for sure man, for recruits, your AI can be as low as 170’s i heard

I play baseball and am confident in my ability to compete at the highest level. My high school is ranked #1 in the state and we’re poised to make a run at state. I’m definately capable playing at the Ivy’s, but I just want to make sure it’s a viable option and not just a pipe dream.

sounds pretty viable to me, i think it depends on your position, what columbia or ivy school you apply to need, and what their AI is without you. if they are lower than 1 sd below the average of the school with you, then they might go with a student with a higher AI.

I see. I guess all I can do is continue to progress in both the classroom and on the field. Thank you for the help everybody.
