Academic Index

Can anyone tell me how to figure out my academic index for Harvard/Ivy League? I know there is a minimum requirement but I can't seem to find a formula.

Thanks!

What is academic index and how do you calculate it based on following information:

SAT 1: 800M/800V/720 W

SAT II: 800 Physics, 800 Math II, 800 US

top 10% very tough course load, competitive school that does not rank.

how many students are in the class?

Up to about 1680 this year.

Does anyone know any statistics (or links to statistics) on the average academic index for Ivy schools?

no .

But I believe the order is Harvard, followed closely by Yale and Princeton, then Dartmouth, then Columbia, then Brown, Penn and Cornell... although Columbia has received "exemptions" on occasion because of their chronic difficulty in recruiting - particularly for football.

Read A for Admissions. The AI will depend on whether or not GPA is weighted and how coy the high school is about the approximate rank.

"A Is For Admission" is out of date now.

My impression is that the AI has no relevance to admissions - only to athletics recruiting (each roster has to be no lower than a certain percentage of a standard deviation below the all-campus mean). Is that accurate?

Your impression is correct where Harvard is concerned. The "A is For Admissions" person was always fuzzy on this point, being a bit knowledgeable about Dartmouth, where she worked briefly in a low level slot, and less knowledgeable about the other Ivies.
