Academic Probation

If I was on academic probation during Spring and then got a D in the Summer, am I subject for dismissal? I think I still have Fall to get out of academic probation?

Reasoning is that even if I got an A during Summer, that would not clear my academic probation.

If anyone knows or has been through the same situation please let me know, freaking out right now!!! :(

Were you on probation in the Spring i.e. your GPA was already below 2.0 before spring started or did your Spring results cause you to fall under 2.0? If it’s the latter then you’ll be on probation in the Fall, summer doesn’t count as a semester, so even if you got F for your subjects in summer classes you still have fall to make up for it, but you have a deeper hole to dig out of now. If your GPA was already below 2.0 BEFORE the spring semester results, then yea, you’re up for dismissal.

Thank you for your reply!!!

So what happened is that my academic probation is actually because one of my semesters was bad (my cumulative gpa is higher than 2.0) in Spring. Now in Fall I’m assuming I need to bring my fall semester greater than 2.0 including the D that I got in the summer. But other than that, I shouldn’t be facing any possibility of dismissal yet, right?

Also, I don’t understand the part that I could be up for dismissal in. if my spring results caused me to fall under 2.0 then wouldn’t I have fall semester to make up for it? Either way, am I understanding it correctly that the summer session grades don’t matter and won’t put me up for dismissal?

Also, sorry for freaking out but how will I know if I am being dismissed? Is there some sort of indication in Bear Facts that I can check?

yea what i meant was if spring was your make-up semester then you are up for dismissal, anyway you need to go see an adviser and I mean immediately just to clarify your position and stuff…

What is your major?

Just wondering, does dropping out and reapplying to other schools allow you to have a clean slate and start over? If it does, I’d just drop out, go to CC, and reapply to college if I were you. There’s almost no point having a bachelor’s degree if your GPA is going to be like 2.1 or something.

No. This “solution” is more troublesome than it’s worth.

frye-
What seems to be the problem, courses too hard, you don’t have the fundamentals to do the work, you don’t attend class or discussions?
To rehabilitate your gpa will require you to probably change your major and getting As in soft classes.
What are you taking this semester?
