Academic Renewal at a CC

I'm currently at UC Irvine and I have around 10 classes left before graduation. Two of these are lower GEs I still need to complete, so I'm planning to take them at my local CC (El Camino).

Now the problem is, I took a class there when I was in 11th grade in 2007 for fun and kicks to see what the college life would be like and for high school credit. Soon, I forgot about this class in order to concentrate on my AP courses and I received an F.

I'm returning to my CC this summer to take two classes and after I finish, the grade from 2007 will show up on the transcript and I'm not sure what's going to happen at this point.

Since my CC history has one class on the transcript, am I eligible for academic renewal? Will UC Irvine compute the 2007 class into my cumulative GPA?

You need to ask UCI and your CC about this.

Technically, since this is a college-level class it probably should already have been reported to UCI when you applied. It wouldn’t transfer because it is an F after all. And, since you took it while still in HS, it might not transfer for that reason even if you had got a decent grade.

Is there another CC you can enroll in for the GEs? Do you need pre-approval from UCI to take them at a CC in the first place? Sometimes that is necessary.
