Academic Renewal For Passed Course (Foothill College)

So, two years ago, I have this:

  1. C S 2B (Grade = C)
  2. ENGL 1B (Grade = F)

a. If I do an AR, what happens to the class I got a C in?
b. And that class is part of a series, where I passed the subsequent course (C S 2C). What now?

Are they ARing the entire term? Hmm, if so, I believe you will need to retake the CS course (out of sequence). You won’t get credit but you can explain the situation when you apply. But talk to someone because I am just guessing.

I’m not sure if they will be ARing the entire term. This is what it says on their form:

“All courses will be disregarded in the requested quarter(s), including
courses with a passing grade.”

But then it says:

“Although none of the units completed during the affected quarter(s) can be counted
toward a degree, courses completed with grades of C or CR, or higher, may be used to
satisfy subject requirements in the major or general education.”

So, I don’t know what exactly this means. Though, I will be contacting my counselor soon.

Oh yeah, that’s right. I’m not quite sure what that means either, but it just occurred to me that your C grade will still be on the transcript (with the AR next to it). That’s usually how it’s done, so while you won’t get the units, the UC will see that it was taken. Again, you need to check cause I’m making an assumption. In some rare cases the grade disappears on the transcript but that doesn’t sound like the case here. I think they are just saying you won’t get the 3 units of credit - in other words you’ll get subject credit.
