I'm not sure what forum to post this... But seeing as I'm a transfer student, I'll try here.

I'm wondering about AR. I have, except for one quarter, a 4.0. One of my quarters was atrocious, two 4-unit classes in which I received Fs, one 2.5-unit class in which I received a C, one P, and one W.

I will retake the failed classes, and by the end of summer my GPA at my CCC should jump up to a 3.9 or so, because for us the better grade covers the failing grade. I'm applying in the fall.

I was looking into AR, because that quarter happened because of a medical reason. I was on an old anti-depressant, and the side effects were terrible. Sadly, it's only been one year since; it was last winter quarter. I don't technically qualify. I know I'm capable of a 4.0, and I would have it if it wasn't for those medications. I want the UC system to know that.

My questions:

Since Winter quarter 2010, after I took Spring off, and have taken 36 units with a 4.0. The one quarter before that with 15.5 units was also a 4.0. The reason was clearly situational, and I'm capable of better. Even though it does not meet the 2-year mark, can I still get AR if I bring some sort of note from my psychologist? Or is the 2-year thing set in stone?

Does the UC/CSU system accept AR?

If I do not get AR, will my GPA be a 3.9? Will that policy of the new grade covering the Fs transfer to the UC/CSU system?

The one class I got a P in that quarter was MATH 114, which is a college math prep class that I needed to take to register for college-level math classes. If I get AR, can I still sign up for those math classes? Will I need to retake MATH 114?
