How does it work?! Should I not list the classes that I got corrected on my UC Application? I had quite a few bad grades from my first semester that I got 'renewed' the uc wont use these classes to calculate my gpa right? Do the UC's make their decisions before you send in transcripts? Because how else would they know if the classes are being disregarded in terms of my GPA?

wow actually I was just browsing the forums and so I guess I was supposed to list the classes with a grade of 'AR' as in Academic Renewal. What do I do to update my application? Can I fix it before I submit fall grades?

Also, my school isn't releasing official Fall grades until the middle of January and to complete the academic renewal I have to wait until those are released. When are the transcripts requested? Should I wait until the Academic Renewal becomes official before listing it on my application?

I think you should wait till it's official, transcripts are requested only when you are accepted but in some cases they would request for them to verify some grades/classes/units

can I use the Application Update website, when it becomes available, to change my grades to 'AR' or are you only allowed to input fall grades and make changes to planned courses?

You will only be able to add fall 07 grades and update planned courses for winter/spring 08. You can utilize the additional comments section of the update to explain the AR courses but you won’t be able to directly change them; unless they have made this change from the form last year.
