Academic standing for transfer help

Hey Guys-

I have a dilemma that has been stressing me out! Hopefully someone can offer some insight? I have been admitted to UCI for Fall 2013 as a transfer student. My problem is this:

I am finally transferring at the age of 28, long story short, I messed around for 8 years and did not take school seriously until the last couple years. From year 1 to 8 I would enroll in classes then drop and did this for a long time. Due to my drops I have been on academic probation/dismissal from my community college for years because I have not completed more than 75% of my courses I enrolled in. I have dug myself in a grave with 8 years’ worth of W’s, and there is no way for me to get above that 75% threshold any time soon. A part of the provisional contract for admissions is that I have to be in good standing with my CC, this is simply not possible. I am ready to transfer now and have over 60 transferrable units with a GPA of 3.6.

I explained all this in my personal statement, and UC app, and they still offered admissions, so I am hoping that means they are overlooking it right? My concern is when I submit my final transcripts and they see me still on Academic Probation will that prompt my admissions to be rescinded? I can provide letters and testimony form counselors, professors and administration from my CC that I am not the student I was when I started college; I am a lot more mature and focused now.
If anyone can help please do! Thanks in advance guys! 

UCI may not have read through your personal statement. You should definitely call the admissions to inquire about the standing.

Thanks @kay1541, this is the only cloud hanging over my head and has me stressed! :(

Hopefully UCI will see all the effort and transformation! I wish you the best!

so what happened OP? Similar situation, except I was dismissed from Arizona prior to going to my current community college. Am I required to obtain GOOD academic standing at my old institution? OR does the academic standing only apply to last school attended (my current college)

It was explained to me that you have to be in good academic standing with your current and previous colleges, but academic standing is different for each. Good standing at your current institution means you are not on probation and good standing at your prior institution means you have no outstanding fees.

kalikid,

I was on academic probation at the previous CSU I went to but I was appealed for Good Standing for Transfer Purposes Only.

I explained it in my application, but do you think I should give them a call? I already submitted my UC applications.
