Academically Dismissed from CSU. Can I go to CC and TAG?

You cannot repeat it. They will not grant you credit for the repeat since you already passed a more advanced course.

Right, right right. Thinking TAG re: limitations…

I’m fine with them not giving credit for it. I don’t want to imprint in their minds: “This student can pass a higher level class but not the lower level one?” It might bring up more questions which could affect their decisions. I’m going to retake it just for the emotional apathy from them.

Also, the class at the CSU was 3 units and at the CC it’s 4 units.

@lindyk8‌

It’s different if I’m going to TAG a UC?

I believe they apply that upper limit rule if you went to any other college besides a CCC. But maybe I am losing my mind or maybe it’s only for some TAGs.

Also, sometimes they will give you lower division credit for an upper division course,

Here is the TAG matrix. It may only refer to upper division. I’ve not dealt with it so I may be analyzing it wrong.

@lindyk8‌

Yeah, they apply the upper limit for upper-division courses. They limit lower-division at 70 because you need a certain amount of credits to graduate, and if you they allowed passed 70, people would reach graduation credit requirements.

Davis told me that I can’t have more than 15 units of upper-division or I’ll be ineligible to transfer. I’m not sure if that meant they increased their cap from 80 to 85, but who knows.

The admissions officers aren’t going to think like that. They will remove the repeat from your transcript and it won’t be factored in the admission. You could repeat the stats class tho because a course grade would replace AP units.

@bomerr‌

Ah, okay. But I still have to take it anyways because it’s a pre-requisite for a course that I do have to repeat lol.

Also, I just realized my intermediate programming class that I got an A- in, isn’t equivalent to any classes in my local CC. Ima dieeeeeeeeeee. Hopefully the admissions can find out something similar to it. :cry:

Okay so the two classes are CS 107 and CS 108. I took them both in the same semester. I got a D in 107 and an A- in 108. The thing is I can’t find any equivalent classes to 108 so it’s possibly not UC-transferable. There is an equivalent to 107 though and that’s one of the pre-reqs at the CC for a class I have to repeat.

What happens when there’s an out-of-sequence with one of them being non-transferable?

Oh, and reading again, I can’t apply for Renewal yet. The policy from my CSU says 5 years, but the policy from CC is one year but can be applied to any institution, so I guess I have to wait till Spring 2016 before filing AR from CC.
