academically qual

i was wondering what you need to be academically qualified. i got the primary nomination from my congresswoman.

i had SAT 760verbal/670math
3.65GPA with with 5 honors / ap classes

i go to a good college and have a 2.3 GPA for the first semester. will that academically disq me? i'm also army reserve.

I think a D or F will disqualify you. As long as you have no Ds or Fs you wont be disqualified (but not as competitive). A 2.3 is rather low for a civvy college, where are you going to and what classes are you taking?

EDIT:
Forgot to mention, if you DO get a D/F you can retake the class and they will look at the highier grade.

You're in a highly strong position since you're in the reserves. The academy has 100 slots on the side just for you. If you keep up with your records and continue to pass and do well at all areas, you should get AT LEAST Prep School. With West Point's reservation for people like you, active duty, and the national guard, you're guaranteed prep school at least. Your SAT records are high. I do not see why you will not get the appointment. You have the nomination too. That's checked off. I am not sure how the GPA will come into play, however. I am not aware of the weight of 2.3. In TX, that could be 3.5. That's up to West Point to figure out. Just continue to pass and try to boost your grades if possible. It will only help you.

Moreover, you have a college transcript AND high school transcript AND reserves with high SAT scores and well rounded gpa from high school. I do not see why you will not get it. Soldiers' seats are already reserved; it's matter of filling them up. Good luck.

Whatever you do, don't get below a 70. It will only make the process challenging.

but since i have the primary, as long as i am academically qual, i'll get an appointment. so i gotta see if i'm academically qual. my grades kinda sucked cuz my mom got real sick and i had to move back home while she got better. i'm taking english, greek, c++ programming and calc.

hey just don't send in any college transcripts. THey're not required, so if they hurt you then just don't send em

i'm gunna call them and see whats req. i'll see if i can just send in my transcript from the college i'm doing rotc at cuz i got an A in the military science 1 class. i'm doing smp so its all good.

mr. greenapple,

I'm currently a college student so if my appointment arrives before my college transcripts, I shouldn't even send them in??

bgmcgrath, the benefit of sending them in is that if you got an A or B in certain classes WP might validate some core classes so you could take electives instead. So if your grades are ate up, keep them to yourself

You'll be taking exams during Beast in order to validate prior coursework. We were told by Admissions that even AP credit would not help to validate any courses.
