academically qualified

is it possible to not be academically qualified right now but found later in the year or after receiving a nomination to be found academically qualified?

definately if you retake tests, or submit good senior year grades. What makes you think you aren't scholastically qualified?

my regional director says i am currently not qualified, i dont know if that means i could be qualified 3 months from now...i had good 1st quarter grades, and im not sure what else i can do to make myself qualified

What are your ACT/SAT scores, GPA and class ranking?

could he have meant that they havent made a decision yet. It took them about 2 months after I finished my application for them to tell my BGO that i was qual. And another month for them to send me a letter.

SAT- 630 math, 590 verbal
GPA-3.0
because i go to a difficult private school we don't do class ranking

he made it pretty clear that as of now i am not qualified, but i'm not sure if they've seen my 1st quarter grades, i dont know how much that makes a difference, maybe getting a nomination will help

^^^^^
The minimum SAT Verbal score is 600. You need to keep taking the SAT exam. The registration deadline for the January exam is 20 Dec 2006.

Try the ACT it's a little easier in the verbal section.......depending on the person.

Try the ACT. My D has always scored her highest scores in standardized testing in the reading sections (35 reading the 1st time she took ACT as a sophomore) but in SAT it is her lowest score (in the 600s). So they really do test differently. But the next ACT is in Feb unless you can do standby Dec 9th. Good luck.

yea i'm going to try to take both as soon as possible, thanks for the help

Not to argue the point too much, but I don't think 600 is really the minimum, since the Class of 2010 profile shows 31% having a verbal below 600. Can't help to be that low though.

The only minimums I am aware of are the minimums required for a candidate number, 530V/570M (and those may be waived by the Admissions Dept)

Yeah,

When I first got my candidate number, I had:

On a 4.0 (3.82)

530 Verbal
620 Math

(Those weren't qualified)

Then I got them up to:

570 Verbal
700 Math

Those were good enough. A bit of gouge for you all. As long as you have a strong GPA and class rank and formidable SAT-Math Score (650 or higher) with leadership/potential to serve, that should be enough.

Keep your head up!
I just recieved a letter that I was academically qualified yesterday.
the SAT scores aren't thaaat great, but they got me qualified..so I assume they're good enough.
Math-600
Verbal-590
I'm not entirely satisfied with those as my best scores, but that's what I have to work with.

GPA (9th-11th grade): 3.46ish
1st Quarter Senior year- 3.928
Semester grades are almost up..hopefully they stay that high. I had just sent in an updated transcript with that GPA a couple weeks ago, so maybe that helped.

Now I'm triple Q'd with a nomination!!

^^^^^^^

Congratulations! That's a big hurdle in this process. Be proud of your accomplishment!

Perhaps I'm looking into this too far, but I am a college applicant for 2011 and was a previous one from 2009. I received an academically qualified letter during my 2009 app, but as of now, I have yet to receive one for this year. I would assume that I would get one again considering I have had modest success in my classes. would this be due to college apps not being reviewed until mid January? thanks

-Jason

hmm, all of you have good gpas and decent SATS. But what if it was the other way around?

I have a 3.1, lower gpa
750 Verbal
670 Math

Whats the academys stand on that?

its all relative
