"Academy Day is an opportunity for you to see and experience a day in the life of an Air Force Academy cadet firsthand. You will be paired with a cadet escort and attend breakfast, classes, lunch, and afternoon activities with that individual. It is an opportunity to ask questions, see Academy life, and hopefully get a feel for what you will experience next year. This years Academy Day is scheduled for 18 November. The purpose of this email is two-fold. The first purpose was hopefully just accomplished by giving each of you a tentative heads up so that you are aware of the activity. The second purpose is to ask if you have a family member or friend that you would like to escort you during Academy Day.

If you have someone in mind then ensure that individual is in good Academic, Military, and Athletic standing and is also WILLING to escort you. Send an email to me with their rank (C4C, C3C, etc), squadron, first name, and last name NLT Friday 19 October 2007. I will compile a list of those names, email the potential escorts to ensure they are willing to participate, and email the scheduling committee to ensure they are approved. In addition to this list, I will compile lists of athletes that will be paired with like athletes and priors that will be paired with priors. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me, and I will set the record straight. Please remember, I need your requested pairings by Friday 1600hrs.

Then there's also OPA, your Overall Performance Average, which is how you're ranked against your classmates. It was actually just changed slightly, effective for the Class of 2009.

OPA = 50% GPA, 35% MPA, 15% PEA - Class of 2008
OPA = 60% GPA, 30% MPA, 10% PEA - Class of 2009 and beyond

i find it ironic to "see what life will be like next year" as you're walking at rest everywhere not having to greet or do any of that stuff. kinda ironic if ya ask me...

yes my escort and I was at rest. That didn't mean I didn't get to see any of the crap 4 digs have to do... thats as far as it did go so I guess youre right.

Only way to really know how its like is to live through it.

Yeah, I didn't recognize you at first, so I nearly fell off my chair when I turned to ask you if you knew [CadCandMateus], and then I saw your name tape and realized it was you! It was good to see you, though, and no you did not annoy me. :)

Just stick with it now and next year, and you'll be alright.

Oh my goodness I loved seeing all the preppies in the library... the whole time I was thinking, thank God, they're going to be the 4 degrees next year :) And thanks for saying hi Mateus! haha

It's good to hear that you all had a good time. And when I came for orientation I still feel like I got a pretty good idea of what the actual Academy is like as a four degree, even though it was after Recognition, so I know what you mean. I just can't believe we're only 3 1/2 months away from being human again!!! :)
