Accept/decline financial aid

I received my financial aid package, but do I accept or decline now or after I say if I’m enrolling or not? Can I accept financial aid and then choose to not enroll?

Do you mean you got your financial aid award in the mail? I didn’t think you could access your student portal until after you paid the tuition deposit.

I got it in the mail and in the portal. I could access the portal before I got accepted, so yeah the portal works.

You can accept the aid before you have committed to Pitt. If you end up deciding not to enroll at Pitt, you just need to let the Financial Aid office know by emailing your name and student ID number to finaid@pitt.edu.

Ok thanks for your help!

Is it necessary to accept now? I thought we could wait until a decision was made.

@booajo, No it is not necessary. You can wait until you have decided what college you would like to commit to.

Last year committed students were encouraged to get this done by June.

Asking generally, is there any reason to decline?

@Hunterwhaley, If you would rather not take the loans that may or may not be offered, you have the option to reduce or decline them.

Where can we find the financial aid letter? Thanks!

Last year my D got an email and we got a letter with financial aid award.
