Acceptance Chances?

Hi! My name is Jack and I’m currently a Junior in High School. I’m expected to be class valedictorian out of roughly 200 students at my public, roughly competitive high school. I have a 28 on my act (34 R, 28 E, 25 M, 25 S) and I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA (4.45 weighted). I was a freshman and sophomore class officer, I’ve been president of my Spanish Club for two years, I’m a member of the student council, I’m in both SHS and NHS, I have many more extracurriculars but not enough space to write them all out. I was wondering about my chances of being accepted into Ohio State University. I feel like I have a pretty decent shot, and it’s one of my top choice colleges. I love the diverse student population and the inclusivity of people within the LGBTQ+ community. Any help or advice from current/past students would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are you in state or out of state?

Is it usually easier or harder for out of state students to game admittance to OSU?

In state students are offered an admission to a regional campus if they are not accepted to main campus in Columbus.

What I’m asking is about out of state students. Would you be expected to have better stats than the average admitted student profile if you are out of state?

OSU takes ranking into account. If your school doesn’t rank then they will estimate a rank for you based on how you compare to other applicants. It isn’t an in state vs out of state difference per se. They provide information about their holistic admission review process on their website and the cds lists class rank as very important while geographic residence and state residency is only in the considered column.
