I haven't received an acceptance letter/official reply from Uni Buffalo yet, though SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Albany, and SUNY Plattsburgh have already accepted me. I was hoping for buffalo, so i'm waiting, however the deadline to make a decision is in a week.

Can i reserve a seat and not decide on going to the school?

I sent an e-mail to buffalo yesterday, to see if there was a faster way to get an official answer, but thanksgiving is here, and so the process of any acceptance letter reaching my mail box may take longer, and they (those at Uni buffalo) may not reply to my e-mail.

I'm being a pessimist, thinking they have rejected me. at least when the mail comes i won't be as annoyed.

so what do you think? Should I have received an answer by now? If so, is it likely i've been denied?

Sounds like the schools had early action or rolling admissions. Neither require a deposit prior to May 1 that I know of. You may have to wait on your acceptance from UB and then deposit there if that is your first choice.

What makes you think you have to send in a deposit now??? Sounds unlikely.

What’s your intended major? Stats?

Good luck. UB has been a great school for my son and his major (and of course the price is right!)

"…Neither require a deposit prior to May 1"

I’m entering in the Semester of Spring 2012, so May would be too late, wouldn’t it?

the deadlines given on the acceptance letters are for the enrollment deposit. I thought that was pretty official, though i know i can request for an extension, I think the deadline for most colleges, for people entering in Spring 2012, is around the first week of December.

Where did you get the information that suggested the deadline was May 1st?

Sorry Lily. I didn’t realize you were talking about Spring admittance. (what I wrote reflected Fall 2012. Obviously a May 1, 2012 deadline would be too late for you!!!).

Now it makes sense to me that you have gotten your letters of acceptance already and have to send in deposits soon.

If you have to send in deposits prior to Monday, go ahead. Reserve your spot, just beware that all or some of hte deposit may not be refundable, or call the school and tell them you are waiting to hear from 1 more school before decided and can they extend the date for deposit without you losing your spot.

Also call UB Monday AM and tell then the situation you are in. Let them know they are your first choice, otherwise you would just send your deposit to the other school and not be concerned with UB at all.

Others may agree or disagree with this. Hopefully someone else will respond.
