Acceptance Letter Mistake?

So I am a transfer I got a acceptance letter today! BUT I THINK THEY MAY HAVE MADE A MISTAKE. Because the folder had only 3 items, Acceptance Letter 1 sheet generic definitely photocopied as you can tell from the signature my name and address on it are right though but no date it just say November 2008, item 2 is an Address change form and deposit card with prepaid envelope. Thats it and online it still says my application is complete, but being reviewed.

I sent in the deposit, and I am too scared to call because this my first choice school and I don't want to be disappointed. I'm checking my bank for the deposit then I will call because once they deposit my check it becomes legally binding regardless...

I mean usually an acceptance packet is text book thick, housing, insurance, health information, etc. I did not get any only 3 items or 4 if you count the envelope to send the deposit. Did they make a mistake?

George State and Cornell even sent out acceptance letters by mistake. Please someone give me insight.

CALL CALL CALL

you do not want to hold off on transfer only to find out you waited to long or that you won't get housing priority because all other accepted transfers got in before you...the overwhelming likelihood is that you got in, my advice would be to suck it up and make that call!

Just call them and find out! You're still gonna feel weird about showing up for the first day of class even if your deposit goes through. And I don't know about the deposit/law, but they could always just give it back to you if they made a mistake - I'm not so sure how binding it is. I don't mean to sound negative though, I'm sure you're fine! The main packet still could be on its way, or pending your acceptance.

My acceptance to U of M for transfer was one sheet of paper in a large envelope... so don't feel to let off by it.

It probably was a mistake; because thats my type of luck

Haha.. kinda a pessimist eh? I am sure you got in... frankly if they sent me a letter by mistake for acceptance i would sue them for emotional distress... haha.

What school are you applying too???

"I'm checking my bank for the deposit then I will call because once they deposit my check it becomes legally binding regardless..."

YOU'RE THE MAN lol

dude they didn't accidentally send u an acceptance letter..u got in! what school?!

what school is this?

Why in hell are you asking people on cc about this? What kind of a response would you like?

If they sent you an erroneous acceptance letter, it is likely they will be obligated to honor it and accept you. However, it is unlikely that this is the case; the letter is surely authentic and correct.

thanks all the for the replies. Its babson. I couldn't believe i actually got in. I really do have crap GPA. I got denied from Bentley a few days before and Babson is higher up so I thought no chance. Now just away to pay for it... hope its not to late for FASFA

great congratulations!

It's not too late to file a FAFSA, but you need to realize that you probably won't be eligible for the kind of aid you would have received if you had filed for financial aid before the school's priority deadline (which you obviously could not have done, since you are transferring midyear!). It's important to understand the financial realities, though. Do an estimate of your EFC (finaid.com has calculators). The following grants and loans are available any time of year & do not run out: Pell grant, ACG, SMART, TEACH, Stafford subsidized and unsubsidized loans, and parent PLUS loans. Pell/ACG/SMART are for very low income students (ACG and SMART are not available to every low income student, though - check the rules), and TEACH is for those who will be teachers. Basically, if you qualify for a Pell, you'll get one. If you have "need" (COA-EFC-any other aid) you'll get a subsidized loan. You'll definitely get an unsubsidized loan. The total loan (sub & unsub total) for freshman=$5500, sophomore=$6500, junior/senior=$7500. But you'll only get 1/2 the amount, because it's given out 1/2 per semester. If you will be taking summer classes & Babson uses the current aid year for summer session, you could get the second half of the loan to cover summer costs. That's about it ... the rest will probably have to be a parent PLUS loan or alternative loan (hard to get these days). Please, please file the FAFSA right away and then talk to Babson's financial aid office. You need to know this before you commit to the school if finances are a concern for you.

you got accepted to babson as a transfer for this spring?? what are ur stats? thats what i applied for, but i thought they were going to post decisions online on Thanksgiving. Ahh the suspense is killing me! But congratulations btw!!
