Acceptance Letters? Already?

Stupid question perhaps, but are you supposed to reply to a likely letter like saying thank you or such? I feel like I don't want to just ignore that letter.

haha I've wondered the same thing. no idea :P

wow, good question. my instincts tell me no, but I think it would be nice to do so. I figure you don't reply to an acceptance letter anyways, so I guess you wouldn't for this

im so jealous! does anyone know how many they send out? i heard dartmouth sends like 500 which is quite a lot if you think about it

I heard that Columbia sends these letters to the top 2-5% of their admit class? So that would be around 80ish? O.o

I got one!! When I read it I couldn't breathe. I didn't know if I should be really excited or royally ticked at myself since I got two B's for first semester (one in AP English Lit and the other in AP Physics - before that I had a 4.0) I know this seems stupid to some people but I'm worried. Should I be???

are people JUST getting these emails (as in today)? or did you just check your email today?

I got the e-mail yesterday (Friday).

I got mine yesterday too. 3:45 according to the email. looks like OP got it REALLY early though

I think they're sent out in waves.

I wouldn't be surprised if more are sent out next week.

it actually looks as if the email was sent to all its recipients yesterday, while the snail mail letter was sent earlier. i think the wave might be done now... hmmmmmmm.

wait, do people who got emails get the physical letter too?

Yeah, you should get an actual letter in about a week or two.

I got the exact same e-mail as the OP... Got pretty excited and my senior first semester was the most solid semester i've ever had!

How many likely letters do they send out?

I got one too on Friday! I have no idea how many they send out. Yale wrote an article about these letters a few years ago, and it says:

"But all likely-letter recipients must meet three criteria: They must be such strong candidates that they are virtually certain to have applied to other competitive schools, it must be virtually certain that the most competitive schools will accept them, and last, Yale officers must be virtually certain that they will admit the applicant, even without seeing the entire applicant pool. " (<a href="http://www.yaledailynews.com/articles/view/20938%5B/url%5D">http://www.yaledailynews.com/articles/view/20938</a>)</p>

So the number of people who get them is essenstially irrelevant; it's a privelege just to recieve one.

^ hey, that's pretty cool

I got a likely a few weeks ago! I'm homeschooled, btw.

Hey lolcats4, it's great to see other homeschoolers shining, kudos to you.

^ nice, thanks! maybe we'll see each other at Columbia Days :)

if i dont get a likely does that mean im getting rejected
