i applied ID. does rice send u any form on notification of them receiving all ur materials?

Uhhh, no. Are they supposed to?

if you inserted the post card you will get a reply stating which items they are still needing but if you do not need anything else you should get the finacial aid paper work.good luck all

Hm. I don't believe I recieved a financial aid letter but I did recieve an email discussing financial aid plus the fact that the website says my application is complete.

What exactly did the financial aid letter say?

Hmmm I have not gotten any financial aid letter and I sent in my application in early October. In fact the only thing I have gotten from them was an email telling me that my application was complete.

I just got my financial aid packet. My mom called me and said there was a BIG letter from Rice waiting for me at home, so I rushed home only to find more dreadful information that I will never be able to afford college. Woo!

10 Days to go, wow, that's going to be sooo long...

lol same here; i figured it was as much (financial aid), but still..heart started beating alittle faster yaknow?
10 long...long...days....to....go....sufferin....g....

December 1st to the 15th is the longest time of year
Seems as though the Rice letter never will appear
How many days until the 15th
Its mighty hard to count
That's why this thread is here to help you out

Ten Days is way too long.

got my decision (accepted!!! yesss...) today and my financial aid packet yesterday

whoa, congrats jaha! i think you're the first CC admit this year, hopefully the first of many. :)

are you a recruited athlete? or do you live in houston? i'm just wondering why you got your letter so early.

also, how did you find out? online, email, snail mail?

I got lucky, you know...my mom's on the admissions board and my dad went there under aff. action in '77...

but, ya, momma gave me this formula to calculate how to get accepted (altho it doesn't apply when you have legacy, aff act, and faculty working for ya)

I think my stats are pretty good tho...620 M, 480 V, 530 W for 1630 SAT...ranked 220 of 881 (OH YA KNOWS, TOP QUARTER, BABY!!)

so how's everyone else's stats looking?

i live in houston, and i got mine the 10th

is this ajoke?

Did you got your letter of acceptance or you found out the decision from your Mom? Congratulations either way! But could you clear that up for those of us who are still anxiously waiting?

Hm. Sounds sort of strange if you ask me. I am pretty sure no one gets their decision before the 10th. =\ Also, nepotism is probably not something to look favorably upon.

I thought Jaha87's post was hilarious.

good point torrestowers...which brings up the question...as a new member with two posts...is this guy pulling our chains?

Actually, he probably isn't. My uncle is on the Board of Trustees and informed me of the decision they made for me last Friday.

I'm sure he's lying.

Even with a mother on the admissions board and an alumnus father, 1630 (1100 without verbal) is very, very low. Top 25% is also not so impressive. There is no formula for acceptance at Rice. And no one gets in because of affirmative action. It can help, but it doesn't guarantee admission for unqualified applicants.

He's just trying to **** people off.
