acceptance notification?

i am confused to how clemson sends acceptances. I always thought it was rolling until i applied and now i dont find out til feb.15? i also see that other kids already got in, apparently theres an EA plan i didnt know about. can someone give me some feedback please?

I don’t think there is any kind of EA. My son submitted his complete application on Sept 17 and has not heard anything. But I do think there is some sort of provisional early admit if you submitted SAT scores in the spring of your Junior year and your scores were high enough.

Alright let me try and explain this:

If you apply by December 1st, you will receive your admissions decision on or around February 15th UNLESS

1) Clemson decides to give you an academic recruiting scholarship in which case you may hear before February 15th (that’s how most people already)

2) You got a provisional acceptance from Clemson if you submitted your SAT scores to Clemson (and they were satisfactory) in the spring of your junior year.

Oh - forgot about the academic recruiting scholarship! Obviously DS didn’t interest them in that category! ;)

thanks pierre

And if you applied after December 1st, you will receive your decision after February 15th on a rolling basis

I received the preliminary acceptance letter and confirmed w/Clemson that my application was conplete in Oct. I have not received anything from Clemson

^ same here for DS Cigar, maybe they’re holding out on the Chicagoland applicants (we’re also in the area.) All these early acceptances make the waiting much more painful, second guessing and all…

Cigarzan, what do you mean by a preliminary acceptance letter?

Ditto for the provisional acceptance.
No word yet…CT

I know someone who got the provisional acceptance but didn’t find out until early December. I wouldn’t worry about it since I have never heard of anybody who got the provisional acceptance who got their acceptance revoked.

I’m glad others are in a similar situation. My daughter received her provisional acceptance last June and sent her application in early September. Still no word here in SC. It does make you second guess.

Yes, I actually made her log into see if her app was really, really complete and it is.

The problem is that she received several other acceptances and she is very focused on them now and Clemson is drifting off her radar with each passing day.

Though, an OOS tuition waiver may bring it front and center again.

have any of you called or emailed the Clemson admissions office? Since they did offer you a conditional acceptance, I might contact them to see what’s going on since you haven’t heard from them in a while…

Yup. My son is feeling the same way about Clemson and VA Tech. They are the only 2 schools he hasn’t heard from that he is at all interested in.

He had his Clemson and VA Tech applications completed and submitted by early Oct. He had acceptances from all the other schools he is interested in before Xmas. He’s going to Purdue next month, and the “plan” is to visit Clemson and VA Tech (plus NC State) at Spring Break, but I am not getting much enthusiasm about it.

^ same situation here, Clemson and one other are the only ones he has not heard from, he said he is still open to Clemson after we see what they have to say, but honestly with everyone else coming in EA he has had much more time to develop enthusiasm for his other choices.

I know how everyone feels, last year I received acceptance letters from Pittsburgh in November, UMass-Amherst and Northeastern in December and Purdue in January. Since Clemson didn’t give me my acceptance letter till February 15th, I became really excited in Pittsburgh and was pretty sure that I would end up there. However, I think the acceptance letter from Clemson got me excited about Clemson again and after I visited Clemson as well as the rest of my schools, I was pretty sure that Clemson was the place for me. I think that’s a bad thing about Clemson’s “early action” plan, that it’s a whole 1-2 months later than other schools so it’s not really “early”.

I think Clemson and VA Tech (and there are probabaly a few other schools as well) need to rethink their notification strategy.

I’m not saying my son is the “cream of the crop” - but when he has had acceptances from several top engineering schools, lots of personal communications, honors college invites and acceptances, and major scholarship $$$ coming from schools WAY before Xmas…it’s hard to keep up the enthusiasm for schools that can’t even manage to say “yes” or “no.”

but then again there are some schools who don’t even have an early action or early decision program and will notify you on may 1st so Clemson is ahead of those schools :)

^^ How can that be - when students have to notify schools of their decision to attend on May 1?

sorry I meant April 1st haha, it’s been a while
