I think that I read somewhere that they are supposed to be and that if we don’t get any notification of merit scholarships with our decision letter, that means that we haven’t received any merit scholarship. =( but I’m not sure how accurate that is.

Received fat letter and FA info today. FA letter did have amounts for grants and scholarships.

does anyone have any idea when my fat package would arrive in Canada?

Did not get my fat package today in MA.

Fat Letter rec’d in FL this afternoon. No aid info.

Did anybody who was accepted NOT receive a package yet?

I lost my #, so I’m waiting on the snail mail decision. I’m just worried since I hadn’t received a priority package yet I’ve been rejected/waitlisted.

Got the packet and son was awarded the Presidential Merit Scholarship. We are really pleased! We were also encouraged to send his other merit offers and they may consider raising his award!

Still didn’t get a package in PA. Ah well.

I got the “official FAT letter” and I was shocked/excited/amused. Loved their packet!

Especially the big FAT part of the fat cover. Haha.

No decision in mail yet in NY. Lost my number so I don’t know what the decision is yet.

uh quick question do ED people get this fat package also? I feel left out only getting a thin letter lol

I applied ED and I got a fat letter

Fat envelope and FA letter received in Colorado. It included the usual unsubsidized Stafford loan, no scholarship.

^ yeah, on the cmu admissions page, it said they stopped giving out merit based scholarships.

Got mine in NorCal today :)

Oh alright just got mine also, had to check the mail.

Rewind - CMU does offer merit, my son was lucky enough to get the Presidential Scholarship which is a merit scholarship.

Strange, because the admissions office told a guy on the wall that merit scholarships were discontinued: [Carnegie Mellon Office of Admission | Facebook](http://www.facebook.com/CarnegieMellonAdmission)

Yeah, they no longer offer merit scholarships. It’s a recent discontinuation.

I do not know what to say, I have a letter from CMU spelling out a merit scholarship for my son referred to as the Presidential Scholarship. I Quote:

“Your financial award includes a Presidential Scholarship. This scholarship is offered to a limited number of prospective students who have demonstrated outstanding academic and personal achievements…” it goes on to talk about it being renewable every year, minimum GPA etc…
