What are the acceptance rates of CALS and CAS?

remember not to pick by acceptance rate in most cases. If you don't know why, please ask, for your own sake.

Why? Why not?

why/why not what?

Acceptance rates at cornell, especially, are deceiving. Engineering has the highest acceptance rate but also the highest average SAT for example.

Also, often times the choice is between CALS bio or CAS bio. If you're from NY then CALS has a big advantage because of the discounted tuition.

CALS is more science oriented in it's distribution requirement, and CAS is a liberal arts college within cornell. You have to study a little of everything along with your major: history, math, science, language, etc.

Hmm. Interesting. Well CALS then works out for me on both fronts, because I'm more sciency anyway, and it has high transfer admissions rates, but GT people probably make them higher than what they really are.

good point bullseye11, I never thought of that.

is is not about the accpetance rate at cornell it is about the applicant. Are you a match for the school you are applying to?

yeah...it's actually true...not some cornell admissions BS...the statistics prove it by making no sense.

read cornell publications and they give you tips on your applucations and hints to what they are look for. For all RD and defeered peps make sure you do you research. make your app. cornell not harvard, bently and any other generic fits for all application

I know I'm more of a match for CALS than CAS. And if I get in, I'll only have two years there anyway. As I said, I'm more sciency anyways. I'll take my chances with CALS transfer, and see what happens, because even if the numbers are skewed, the percentage is A LOT higher than CAS, which I don't want to go to anyways. But your caution has not gone unheeded, I've thought about it before making the decision.

For out-of-state applicants who want to major in biology, which school would be slightly easier to get in, CALS or CAS? FYI, I can be interested in anything...Hahaha

LOL. That's pretty useful information which I, unfortunately, don't have.
