does anyone know what the RD acceptance rate for hispanics was for the class of 2010? or, where i might find this information? thanks!

Chicken noodle soup

I dont undersand how URM and Affirmative action still apply. I dont agree with the whole URM status affecting admission even though I realize some of the difficulties these minorities face. How can race be a factor, I thought that was illegal....

I agree. ^^^

AA is very racist and it should be eliminated.

it's like 80%, but everyone throws rotten tomatoes at them and pokes them with sticks (they're kept in cages).

GTown wouldn't release a statistic like that because they don't take race into account for admissions. Releasing a statistic like that would open up a can of worms. It's probably maybe 1-2% higher than the acceptance rate, not much of an advatnage. Legacy students are accepted at a very high rate, but they all come from affluent families and had good educations so that statistic is slightly squewed

ok, this isnt supposed to be a bash AA thread. i understand that some of you out there may not support it, but it does exist and it is a factor in college admissions. and, contrary to what MDT89 stated in the post above this one ("GTown wouldn't release a statistic like that because they don't take race into account for admissions. Releasing a statistic like that would open up a can of worms."), gtown does use it in order to create a diverse class. MDT89, unless you're an admissions officer i dont think you should go around posting claims like that just b/c you dont like AA. sorry if this little fact may upset anyone out there, but you gotta face the truth, universities do practice affirmative action. i started this thread in order to find out some information that really will affect the decision made on my application.

o and if any of you think im some lame minority who would only be accepted b/c shes hispanic, think again. i have a 3.93 UW, a 2270 (1490) SAT I score, 800/ 790/ 730 SAT II scores. i have great recs coming from teachers and my counselor, and really solid ecs. one of my essays made a harvard- educated, former editor for the LA Times cry. o and to top it all off, im poor. so, being hispanic can only help me.

if anyone reading this can actually answer my original post, then please do. dont use this thread to start an AA debate. Thanks!

I think with your qualifications, you don't need to rely on minority status to get accepted to Georgetown, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

GirlA, i know i have a semi- decent chance, but i know that being hispanic can help a lot in admissions. so, once again, i ask that anyone who can answer my original post to please respond. thanks.

MDT89 already said that Georgetown wouldn't release a statistic like that.

Why would they do that seriously? and by the way, I'm Colombian, I'm not complaining, it just wouldn't make any sense to me for them to release that.

But, my mom interviews for GTown so she gets all these news releases and papers, ect, ect. And, on the interview sheets it asks interviewers to identify Chicano and Latino students because they are lacking at GTown, so it obviouslly helps out.

How funny... Im one of 3 Colombians here at Gtown. Hope you get in!
