Acceptance Rate?

Per the 2013 statistics, Rice admitted 322 out of 1298 applicants via ED or 25% and 2260 out of 14117 RD or 16%. Does anyone know how many of the 322 admitted students via ED were athletes? For example if @110 athletes were accepted via ED then the ED adjusted rate without athletes is 16% which is the same as RD.

Yale admissions mentioned that their ED admittance rate was the same as RD if you back out the athletes that were admitted in ED.

So is this also true for Rice (that admittance rate is the same for ED and RD)? Thanks!

I’m actually wondering if this is true for most ivy leagues and/or really good schools like Rice. Could someone answer this question? lol

Yea, it pretty much is the same once you subtract legacies and athletes.

Then it seems there is no point in applying ED.

Unless its your number one choice…

It is not all legacies and athletes. Where did this rumor get started? If Rice is your first choice then applying ED is a smart move.

136

(It would need to be 136 ED athletes at 100%, not 110, to bring the residual ED acceptance rate down to 16%, assuming the other numbers are correct as posted)
