I just got the letter in today, despite applying october 5th. I got deferred, which boggles my mind as I got into the University of Chicago, I am top 5% of my class, president of 4 clubs, 2 varsity sports, and in the only 2 honor societies my "New York City Ivy League" Prep school has. UMich was my safety school. I actually just dont understand it... I guess my test scores weren't great (the achilles heal) as I only got a 2030 on them (660,700,670) but 4s on US HIstory and Bio APs, 720 on Bio M... What happened, I originally was looking at the honors program... I am an out of stater... whatever, I am going to U of C anyways, but its just not nice not being accepted

Accepted to LSA
2240 SAT
OOS

Application completed on December 10.

my app was complete december 1st but i still haven't gotten anything...
there are people who applied after me who have gotten in..
my stats are 4.0 GPA, 2290 SAT, and i'm OOS. applied to LSA.
should i be worried?

my app was complete in nov and i still havent gotten a decision yet

i read somewhere in a past post that those who dont get their deciison for a long time usually means they got rejected O_O

i'm wouldnt be surprised if I got a rejected because they ended AA...and i'm a URM with low stats

Smirkus--Because UMich is a state school, they have to give a certain number of spots to in-staters, and they often have much lower stats than yours. I'd much rather be in your shoes and know I was going to U of C, though.

i got my 4th e-mail yesterday! Yay! go me! hahahaha
Oy. i wonder if they'll even seriously consider my application

^about being rejected if application has been complete for a while...

i didn't think i would get rejected, even though i'm OOS because of my strong GPA (all AP/IB/honors classes) and strong SAT scores. i also have pretty decent ECs(animal related, piano, violin) and had pretty good essays too, along with great recommendations.
i just hope that what you said about being rejected is not true...that would be bad for me.

honied-dreams, Chicago isn't for everybody. A couple of points that I would like to make.

1) Chicago, although it is more selective than Michigan, isn't that much more selective. I am sure there are several cases of students who get into Chicago but not into Michigan.

2) Chicago and Michigan, although similar in terms of academic excellence and reputation are complete opposities in terms of campus culture and environment. I applied to both personally, but I knew full well that they were polar opposites.

I was accepted to Michigan and deferred by Chicago. I've always thought Mich was a better fit for me anyway.

lol my app was complete jan 10th. i think ill get just rejected ; /

All my app was completed on the 17th of December except my TOEFL which came in on 12th January. Damn ETS they suck. $170 for taking the test, $19.50 for sending a score report to each College. All that money and they still suck.

My app was complete on December 13th except for my teacher didn't send a recommendation until January 8. I might have my decision soon if it weren't for that!

lol at least your in state im OOS with borderline stats

your SATs are below par for OOS, 4s on AP arent good either, at least at my school, 4 is considered an inferior score and if a student gets a 4 on the AP, he would have failed the course anyway

^ plus you didn't say anything about your essays and recs. Those could make or break you if your other stats are mediocre.

I hear Michigan is supposed to be getting harder and harder to get into. In 2005, they accepted 57% of applicants and only 47% for 2006.

They're supposed to continue a trend of selectivity in 2007. I hear it's because they're remodeling dorms or something?

Goody, I might be getting a decision soon. Seems they are up to the 12/10 apps. I'm just so annoyed that I don't have one now, because they screwed up. I'm thinking that they are still at about a month lag for decisions, since there was winter break in there.

I applied 11/21 and still nothing...do you think that means that I am rejected?
