hmm...so a question: i screwed up my first sem. junior year..majorly(took on too many APs) but im doing better now...and hoping for all A's......would you recommend taking easier but not blowoff classes 1st sem. senior year? becasue i am almost certain i will be deferred...hopefully with the good letter....will it look bad if my classes are a bit easier than junior year's? because i went totally nuts in planning my schedule for this year....

wow bearcats.....can you post anymore stats? ec's and awards etc.

i dun think he has any special ecs ..just the typical ones, a sport a season, non var..not recruited...
i got in with a 3.1 and around a 1500 too...but our school is one of the top 6 new england boarding schools...and my college counsellor called michigan a match for both of us ..

yeah but if u go to a school like hotchkiss GPA is condoned alot more seeing how difficult the classes are..and based on the person's AP test scores it becomes obvious that was the case

Well, I know for a transfer applicant, my wait time is generally 6-8 weeks. However... an odd thing was, my application was completed about a week and a half ago (or so says admissions officers when I called them); however when I called them today to confirm everything, they said it had JUST be completed like... a few days ago.

So I'm not too sure what to believe in terms of completed or not. At least it's supposedly in review.

this really isn't the thread for this, helpmegetin!, but I'll try to answer your question:

for starters it depends on what you mean by "screwed up majorly." gradewise, your overall UM GPA is what they will care about. as far as what to do during your senior year, if you apply early they won't see your first semester grades before making a decision, but they will see which classes you've signed up for, so it seems to me the most important thing is an impressive schedule. of course grades will still be important, especially if you are, in fact, deferred. without knowing your current overall GPA, I would advise you to seek the toughest schedule you can still handle and get good grades with next year.

... its almost friday again lol. btw zkevin i dont remember who said it but someone said that the decisions come out on fridays on wolverine, and by the looks of the posts in here it looks like its prob true. whenever theres a flux of accepts its always friday

Accepted today (I believe) to Engineering. Finished 11/18, Completed 1/3.
4.0 UM GPA
32 ACT (33 super if they care)
Lots of great ECs
Glad that I'm finally in.
I did ask a friend who works at the U to see how my app was going, I doubt he did anything once he knew that I had a 4.0 and a 32, but it may of help, I asked him to check up on it because I was annoyed that they screwed up before and delayed my app by 2 months.

Flong, you could, but I wouldn't hold my breath for one. I'd like to think that I was a pretty strong applicant, plus I was in state, plus I think that my connection at could have helped me get a decision faster, plus they screwed up and may have tried to account for the extra 2 months that I had to wait.

Also, I'm sure that there was a large surge of applicants right at the beginning of the year.

OMG I got into UMICH engineering program!!!!

i finished app 1/16/07 btw
