Acceptance to LBW - Leadership in the Business World

Hey everybody, this thread is for people who have already been notified of acceptance to LBW. I am curious about LBW admissions procedures since some people were told that the decisions would be made in May while others have already been accepted.

If you have been accepted , please write your name, when you sent all the application materials, location, standardized scores, and whether or not you’re going.

Is definitely attending!!!!

savvymom - I hate to be nosy, but I only asked for standardized scores so that I could figure out how the LBW admissions process works. I think they're accepting high SATs or PSATs early and then making decisions on other applications later. Its just a theory.

the more and more stats of the accepted members i see, makes me think i should have tried harder on the psats haha ughh

PSATs 208 (76M 71 V 61W)
Depends on how gov school goes.

I do not think that SAT is that huge of a part, well at least not the writing part. I'm more leaning on leadership, rec letters and the essay.

fatcookie - thanks for the reply and congrats!
I guess they're looking for the full package; there's no particular method to their madness!!

steeev88-
I think your theory is wrong because my D only submitted PSATs (she took the SATs in March) Although they were very good (I forget the exact number),they were not natl merit finalist numbers. She does have however, a ton of quality leadership among other things. It also didn't hurt that her class rank is 2/208. My D is very well rounded and I think that's what LBW is looking for.

yeah well im still hoping that i have some faint chance but my expectations arent high

what do you think my chances are
- great recs
-great essay
{of course thats subjective but yeah lol}
- 4.0 weighted gpa/ taking all A.P classes ( 6 this year, 3 last year, 1 before that)
- PSAT's were low point that worrys me ( i think i got like a 1980( 660 / 660/660) or so which was a shock to me yikes haah)

The average SAT is listed as "just below 1400" or something like that on the LBW website section. I think references are important. S's stats are not nearly as high as what some of you have, but I think he stands a good chance to get in. We'll see...... If he does, it will make you all have a lot more hope!

I hope the SATs aren't too important; all I have are 800's in french SAT II's. (never took the PSAT)

Would you mind posting your son's stats (or would you like to wait until you find out if he gets in?)

He has a 1390 from the January SAT- no SAT IIs yet. He has switched schools a couple of times but has great grades this year at his boarding school. Great recs from teachers who REALLY know how to write them. He is an unusual kid- a top athlete in his sport but also started a philosophy club in his dorm. He is very independent and is a real leader (sometimes even in a positive way!). I thought his essay was excellent. I think these programs need a range of kids to keep things interesting (not dummies, but different types of kids with different strengths and backgrounds).

Do you think I could still send in the March SAT results once I get them? It should reflect a 250-350 point increase from my PSAT, so it may help my chances. Do you think they will consider them?

(PS I really really bombed my PSAT...189)

stambliark - definitely send the new scores in once you get them;
have them rushed if you can

alright, there have definitely got to be more people doing LBW

Please post

I just got my letter of acceptance into LBW.
