i want to go to ucsd, but my average gpa is 3.5 or 3.6 and i've had 3 C's during my high school years. the C's are in AP/honors classes. if i score high on SAT's do i still have a chance?

Depends on your extracurriculars/essay.

I have a friend who went from a 3.0 ish to a 4.0

He fixed his D's in adult school and volunteered to coach pee wee baseball for about 2 years (also worked a LOT after school). So he had like over 2000 hours or something like that. He made it in!

He had a lot of problems in his life and slacked off a lot/didn't care but really turned around junior/senior year. He's a great person, I'm glad he got in.

He didn't take ANY AP classes at all by the way. Just honors ( :

i got in and my gpa is lower, but my sats were 2140 if that helps

I had a 3.6 and a 2210 on the SAT and DIDN'T get in, if that helps. :(

3.8 and 1910 SAT, got in, OOS too.

Yeah, write passionate essays, double the ECs, and so on and on.

Pay close attention to the point system.

it's not really hard to get in. Just study up on your SATs and score high on them. I'm sure you'll be fine as long as you don't try to get into an impacted major like bioengineering.

speaking of impacted majors like bioe...
i was wondering if people could post their stats for getting in "second cut" majors.

Should probably start a new thread for this but w/e...
I'll start

Bioengineering (Biotechnology)
UW/UC 3.8/4.1
SAT1 2040/ ACT 31
SAT2 Math2C800/BioE 710

just ignore this post since it has no relevance to the OP. haha....
