No, I was wrong - it wasn't the housing - it was to 'hold' the spot! Got ahead of myself.

Thanks for the info on the bus

NanE and Im the Starlight,
Butting in, I know, but the COTA bus usually isn't recommended. I've heard it's kind of iffy as far as quality and such.
Also, I bunked my bed first quarter and took it down because I just didn't like it. Depends person to person. In Mayne Hall, however, the dorm I'd recommend for ItS's son, you can't loft, but you can bunk. In Clements, an all girl, all freshman dorm where a lot of my friends are living, you can bunk or loft. It differs from dorm to dorm.
Let me know if you folks or your students have any questions!

I wanted to post this on this thread as well.

My D and I attended the Presidential Scholarship Dinner and I must say everything was done very nicely. My D will be a MTD in the fall. The student presentations were wonderful and the state building was beautiful. We both thought the young lady with the molecular biology presentation was awesome. My D spent the night in one of the dorms, felt the students could not have been friendlier, and included her as if she was an old friend not a newbie. We just arrived home tired from the drive, but very excited about Otterbein.

MTaussie my D thinks she met you son in the dance class she took. She said he was great. I think they reminisced about competition days.

2BRN2B . . . Yes, I'm pretty sure our kids met yesterday. You're from St.Louis, right? . . . he said he had met a new MTD girl in class yesterday but I wasn't sure if it was your D or if Otterbein had taken 2 MTD girls for next year. Did they exchange contact info? Let me know . . . S is not here right now but I will ask him when he gets back.

I don’t know if Otterbein has taken 2 MTD girls for next year that would be great. Yes, we are from St. Louis. I don’t know if they exchanged email contact info or not. My D isn’t home either. Does your S every do Face Book? She really enjoyed her visit, and said your son is very good. Did you ever get the email I sent you via CC. I am new to CC, and I am not sure I sent it correctly?

NanE and Im the Starlight sounds like our kids might be working together next year! :)

2BRN2B - yes, I got your e-mail. It took me a while to reply . . . sorry but I did send you a reply on 4/4. If you didn't get it/can't find it, let me know and I will send it again. S does Face Book . . . perhaps they could exchange info that way. I'm glad your D had a great visit to Otterbein . . it's a wonderful school :)

MTaussie- just read your email and sent you a response. Yours arrived after we had left for Otterbein trip. ... yes, I hope the kids can stay in touch. Thanks again

2BRN2B,I think my D met your D...I am sorry that we did not get a chance to meet..maybe next time

Hi, I am a new member and just getting into this....Can you tell me where is Otterbein? Is it associated with a University? Is the Presedential Dinner the prize one wins from the Ntional Foundation of Advancement of Arts? Is that the only way that a kid can get a merit scholarship for these programs? Surprised your a new member, it seems like you have already been through the process.

Otterbein College is located just outside of Columbus, Ohio. The Presidential Scholarship Dinner has nothing to do with the NFAA Awards; it is to recognize students who are being given awards by the college. Many musical theatre programs offer talent scholarships to deserving students, though sometimes the academic scholarships offered by the school are larger. Students can often be awarded both talent and academic scholarships. Colleges do not decide whether or not to award students a talent scholarship on the basis of how they have fared at NFAA.

As far as someone who's a new member appearing to have already been through the application and audition process, that it quite possible. Many people read the College Confidential MT forum for a long period of time before deciding to post. The terms new member, junior member, and member simply refer to how many posts someone has made, not how long they have been reading and/or posting. A member, for example is anyone who has made 300 or more posts on any of the CC forums.

LAStagemom,my D was awarded the Presisential Scholarship based on her S.A....included in her application to Ottterbein...this award/scholarship was totally different than the one she recieved for talent

Hi mum2four... yes I think our Ds did meet. They didn't get to talk much but if she is who I think she is she had on a pretty white and red dress. Debbie B. sat at out table. If you like I can email you my Ds email and maybe they can talk to each other. My D received a wonderful talent award as well and she is so excited about Otterbein. MTaussies's son is a great dancer. My D took a class with him on Thursday. Otterbein has everything she is looking for so she is Columbus bound.

My S was just accepted to Otterbein MT! We are visiting soon and are very excited!

d&g'smom, congrats to your son!!be prepared to fall in love with everything and everyone there!!the campus and the surroundings will make you feel like you are living in a norman rockwell painting...be sure and pm linus....he may have time to meet with you (i do not mean to speak for him) it was just a pleasure to meet he and kate, they were very helpful...my d will attend in the fall with a music/vocal perf. major...good luck to you and happy travel

Dear mum2four,

Thanks for the congratulations! Congratulations also to your daughter! Otterbein was my son's favorite school and he is so happy to be accepted. Everyone has been so nice and speaks so highly of the school that we can't wait to visit.

Dear D&GMM
It is great to hear from someone else going to Otterbein! My D will also be in MT with a dance concentration. She is so excited and mum2four is right linus and Katie are great. Both are on CC now. Catididwhat and linus are their screen names. If you want to PM me, maybe the kids can get to know each other a little before schools starts. When did you son audition? We were there Jan. 27. Just thought maybe we might have seen each other is you were there on the same day. Where are you from?
MTaussie is also very helpful. D met her son at Otterbein during our last visit. We would love to go see Hello Dolly but don’t know if we can work it out yet. Everyone on CC has been wonderful.
It is so great to hear of the acceptances. Can’t wait to meet everyone in person. :)

Hi 2BRN2B,

Congrats to your daughter! I think it would be great for the kids to exchange information. I'll PM some contact info to you. We're visiting soon and are really looking forward to it!

my D will also be a freshman at Otterbein next year as a music/vocal performance major. Ditto what mum2four said, we love everything about Otterbein! It's a small campus with a small town feel but so close to the city anything you want to do is right there! Congratulations to your and your son!

Congratulations D&G'sMom on your S's acceptance to Otterbein . . . another CC'er at Otterbein . . . hurray!!!! I know your S will be very happy and he'll get fabulous training too :) My son is a freshman MTD and loves what he is doing. He is very, very happy with the program at Otterbein.
